Organic, Heirloom & Non-GMO

As a non-profit dedicated to preserving seeds, here’s how we define these terms:

Organic: Certified organic seeds are grown in organic soil and are only exposed to inputs (like fertilizer and pest controls) permitted by the USDA’s National Organic Program during its growing, processing, and packaging periods.

Heirloom seeds: Seeds that have been saved and shared by generations of home gardeners.

Non GMO: Seeds that have not undergone “the mechanical transfer of genetic material outside of natural reproductive methods and between genera, families or kingdoms” as stated in the Safe Seed Pledge.

As a customer, member, or donor, you help us save America’s heirloom seeds.

Shop a large selection of organic, heirloom, non-GMO vegetable seeds and plants, including rare and hard-to-find tomato, cucumber, bean, lettuce, and pepper seeds. Sales support our non-profit work.

Vegetable Seeds – All

Since 1879, Harris Seeds has been selecting vegetable seed varieties for improved performance in the garden and in the field. Harris Seeds was the very first company in America to test for good seed germination and print the results on every package of seed sold.

We are proud of the fact that we set the standard for high quality vegetable seeds in America, and these quality standards remain today. Before any vegetable seed variety can make it into the Harris Seeds catalog or on our web site, it first must pass our rigorous standards for high germination and superior field performance for quality and yield.
